The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics project an employment of 2,420 positions by May 2012, indicating an excellent employment outlook for sonographers in New Jersey. Statistics indicate there are an expected 90 annual job openings with two-thirds due to growth and one-third due to replacements. The average annual wage for sonographers in New Jersey is $68,080 which is higher than the national average wage for sonographers. The jobs are clustered in the highest population areas of Newark, the NY-NJ Metropolitan area and the New Brunswick-Edison area.
